Community Advisory Committee for Special Education (CAC SE) for SELPA IV
responsibilities include parent education and advocacy training, review and development of the special education local plan, participation in district committees directly affecting the special education program that supports students with Individualized Education Plans (IEPs). The CAC SE is dedicated to insuring that every student receiving special education services within this district is getting Free Appropriate Public Education.

Guest Speaker Night!
Come join us Monday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. in room 129 at the SJUSD District Office. The topic this month will be Walking in the Shoes of a Learning Different Person facilitated by Steve Corellis and sponsored by Parents Helping Parents. Experience first hand through this learning disability simulation the different types of learning challenges faced on a daily basis by students with learning differences. A not to be missed event for parents, relatives, and friends! Parents, be sure to invite your child's teachers too! This simulation will be presented in both English and Spanish and childcare is provided. Please email us at info@cacsjusd.org for more information.

Experimente de primera mano los distintos tipos de retos de aprendizaje que enfrentan día los estudiantes con discapacidades de aprendizaje y trastorno de déficit de atencíon en este simulacro de discapacidades de aprendizaje. ¡Un evento que no se pueden perder los padres, familiares y amigos! ¡Padres, inviten también a los maestros de sus hijos! Este simulacro se presentará en inglés y español. Habrá servicios de guardería infantil.

CONGRATULATIONS! To all our 2011 SERAs (Special Education Recognition Awards) nominees and Crystal SERA Award winners! The CAC SE had the honor and privilege of recognizing over 90 nominees on March 28, 2011 at Theater on San Pedro Square.
Thank you to everyone who took advantage of this wonderful opportunity to honor those people who make a difference in the lives of students with special needs.
