What is CAC SE?
CAC SE is an acronym for the Community Advisory Committee for Special Education. It is a standing committee of the San Jose Unified School Disrict Board of Directors which includes the entire SELPA IV region.

Can the CAC SE advocate for my child?
The CAC SE does not advocate for any particular child but the students, as a whole. If you have a concern that pertains directly to your child, you should address the SJUSD Special Education Department. The CAC SE has forms you can fill out, regarding individual issues you may be experiencing. You may download this form and mail it to the Special Education Department or fill one out at the next CAC SE Board Meeting or Speaker Night.

Do I need to attend the CAC SE Board Meeting to experience a CAC SE Speaker Night?
Absolutely not, all community members are invited to attend all CAC SE Board Meetings and/or Speaker Nights. Any committee member may attend one without the other. Our greater population attends the Speaker Nights. If you would like email notification of upcoming meetings and Speaker Nights, please click here.

How can I become a member of the CAC SE?
The CAC SE Membership Chair, Mary Pizzo, is taking names of interested parties. The nomination process will conclude at the April CAC SE Board Meeting and the voting process will conclude at the May CAC SE Board Meeting. Each spot on the board of directors will be served for two consecutive years. This is a wonderful way to serve your community. Please contact Mary Pizzo, if you are interested in CAC SE membership.

Do I need to be a CAC SE board member to participate on a CAC SE subcommittee?
No, you do not need to be a board member to participate on a committee. We need volunteers to serve on the following subcommittees: Membership, Legislative, Educational Programs, Local Plan and Policy Review and Public Relations. If you are interested in becoming involved on a committee, please direct your inquiry to the appropriate subcommittee chair.
